Somali Pirates Kill Each Other Fighting Over Greek Supertanker's Ransom

AHN - Harardhere, Somalia - Several Somali pirates were killed and at least three others wounded in a gunfight. Reportedly the pirates were fighting over a large ransom given for a Greek oil tanker.
According to reports the battle occurred in the heavily pirate populated town of Harardhere. Reportedly the criminals began fighting over how to share their loot. At least three of the pirates were killed however exact numbers remain unclear.

Elders in the town have revealed in published reports that tensions have been running high in the town rife with violence and criminal activity. The overnight exchange of gunfire was just the tipping point.

On Monday pirates finally released the Greek flagged supertanker Maran Centaurus, and its crew of 28. Its believed the sum they received as ransom paid via air drop was between 5.5 and 7 million dollars. The tanker was carrying 2 million barrels of crude oil from Saudi Arabia to the United States when it was hijacked on Nov. 29th.
